December is packed with lively carnivals, many of which take place in the middle of the month. Perhaps the biggest event is the St Kitts-Nevis National Carnival, also known as Sugar Mas. Throughout the Christmas and new year period, the streets are permanently full of processions and street performances. Traditional characters will be about too, including clowns and ‘Moko-Jumbies’, who dance fearlessly around on their stilts. Celebrate Christmas where music spills out from the joyful church services and ends on the beach with locals and other holidaymakers.
Experience a once in a lifetime opportunity with your family sitting in the sand having recently opened their presents and now soaking up the warm sun, while you relax on a beach lounger sipping a cocktail under a palm tree that moves slowly in the cooling breeze.
Water sports such as scuba diving, paddle boarding and jet skiing are just a few of the 26 possible activities offered on St Kitts and Nevis. Head to St Kitts water sports centre which offer the most activities than any other company in the Caribbean. One water activity that cannot be recommended enough is scuba diving. The clear tropical waters surrounding the island are home to beautiful coral reefs. Coconut Tree Reef is one of the largest reefs that features an abundance of exquisite marine life and is perfect for beginners and professionals alike.
If you want to join in with the local festivities, St Kitts South Frigate Bay Beach is the most popular beach with an abundance of beach bars, restaurants and nightclubs, perfect for any occasion.
December is the beginning of the dry season, with an average temperature of 26°C during the day. At night that temperature decreases to around 22°C while sea temperatures sit at a comfortable 27°C.
There is an 80% chance of sun on any given day and there is only a total of 90mm of rainfall during the whole month. If showers do occur, they are usually short bursts that will not impact your day too much.
