Where better to bring in the New Year than a Caribbean beach? Saint Martin comes alive for New Year with lots of celebrations and a vibrant nightlife scene. With so many casinos, bars and restaurants littered around the island there are many New Years’ eve parties and late-night dining experiences.
Every year locals and holidaymakers flock to the Phillipsburg to watch the huge firework display over Great Bay. This is considered to be the biggest New Year fireworks in the Caribbean. Arrive early to stroll down Great Bay Beach Promenade, pick a good spot and then wait for the show to start.
If you prefer to avoid the crowds of the firework display, celebrate in a restaurant in the Maho beach area on the Dutch side of the island. Establishments offer late dining and special New Years’ menus for a set price. Plus, there are plenty of clubs with late-night partying in this area.
The Sonesta Maho and Sonesta Ocean Point resorts in Sint Maarten usually throw special New Year parties. The Maho is more family-friendly while Sonesta Ocean Point is adults-only.
