Gouyave holds the annual Fisherman's Birthday in honour of St. Peter, the patron saint of fishermen. This is a one-day event featuring the ever-popular fare of sailboat racing, a street parade and a greasy pole competition. It’s a quieter month for events, but the heavier showers bring the island into bloom so it’s a wonderful time to explore sumptuous green areas like the Grand Etang National Park, Sunnyside Gardens or the Annandale falls.
With heavy (but not typically long) showers between beautiful sunshine, the island comes alive with stunning tropical flowers and lush vegetation so basing yourself at a resort with incredible views, like Maca Banas hillside villas, is an easy choice. When you do need to escape a shower, visit one of the many rum distilleries to sample some traditional local brewing methods.
In June, Grenada has an average temperature of 27°C, with highs of 31°C and lows of 23°C. The chance of rain is moderate with an average of 220mm falling over 17 days in the month. Showers tend to be short but heavier, and there’s a higher chance you’ll encounter a storm, but sunshine (and heat) are still plentiful.
