July in Grenada is all about getting ready for the annual Carnival, Spicemas Festival. Celebrations begin at the end of the month and carry on through to the second Tuesday of August. Expect dazzling costumes, live music and dancing till dawn.
The idea of it being wet puts off tourists visiting the Caribbean, making July a much quieter and more tranquil time of year. The start of the month is perfect for a relaxing getaway but be aware that toward the end of July tourism picks up in the lead-up to Carnival. Make the most of the low season and visit some of the popular sites in Grenada - take in a chocolate tour at Belmont Estate, stock up on spice at Dougaldston Estate, or take a walk through beautiful tropical flowers to Annandale Falls - a 10-metre waterfall tucked away between verdant vegetation.
In July, Grenada has an average temperature of 27.5°C, with highs of 31°C and lows of 23°C. The chance of rain is high with an average of 230mm falling over 20 days in the month so there’s no denying it’s a bit wetter than most, and with that comes humidity, but even now rain is sporadic, coming down in heavier fits and starts.
