Antigua's main event is the Yacht Club Round the Island Race. It consists of one race, anticlockwise around the island on a boat- totalling 50 miles. Starting location on the Falmouth Harbour, the skipping will have to navigate the vessel through 4 GPS marks before returning to the harbour. The triumphant team will be awarded the world-famous "Sizzling Bacon Trophy" and the skipper's weight in rum.
With January being one of the cooler and drier months in Antigua and Barbuda, why not check out some of the fantastic natural scenery the island has to offer on a hike. Whether you are by the coast or in the southern hills, some incredible hikes will take you to some stunning remote locations. Some recommended hikes worth checking out; around Shirley Heights in Antigua - Jones' Valley Trail and Desmont and Carpenter trail or around Wailing Dam area; the Walling Dam to Signal hill is also recommended.
