Loved this hotel, the room the food, the staff & the location. There are pluses and minuses but all in all a very good value 4 star hotel. We had a balcony room. Very large with separate semi-open air bathroom, twin sinks with mirrors, bath was more like a plunge pool - could sit in there together & chill out. Toilet - no loo roll down the loo - some people may not like that - bin is emptied every day. This is the norm for Koh Samui. Great shower, no issues with hot water whenever we wanted it. One bottle of shampoo & body wash/shower gel provided which is topped up every day & soap by the twin sinks. Loo roll topped up every day. One bath towel each provided, no small towels. plus a towel/mat on the floor outside the shower. Beach/pool towels provided on request with no deposit. Air con wax about frustrating - could not regulate the temperature despite the controls staying different modes & temperatures. Room was too hot without it, then got freezing cold with it! Only way we managed to find a comfortable sleeping temperature was to leave the doors open & have the air con on. There are mosquito nets over the windows & balcony doors. Air conditioners n stopped working one day - engineer arrived within 5 mins & fixed it. Loungers on the seafront have seen better days- look like they need a thorough clean, but are functional & have comfortable cushions on. Bar down by the beachfront served food & drinks, however staff a bit hot & miss, not very attentive. There are 2 seats of steps down to the beachfront served food which can be used when the tide is out, otherwise it’s easy enough to follow a path through a hotel a few doors down. This end of Chawang beach we felt was the best - quieter, fine white sand & a calm swimming area. Plus there is a nice cafe where you can use there loungers if you buy a drink. Your place bar & restaurant is right next door too - very cheap & very good cocktails & grub right on the beach with sea lapping at your feet. On some days the sea rubbish, seaweed & algae collected at the base of the steps which didn’t look very inviting! No fault of the hotel. Lots of other bays, restaurants, convenience stores & masssge parlours in both directions from the hotel just a few mins walk. Chewang is a 10 min walk to the ready stands & bars, 20 min to the busy/loud area with lots of traffic & bumping music! Hotel food is great if you wish to stay in & room service was very quick! The resident Philippine duo band were a bit sad - really not good, but we went out most nights anyway. The fire show on a Monday is great! Breakfast is OK. There is an egg station with omelettes, scrambled, poached, fried or boiled eggs - always fresh & quick. You can also order ‘bacon’ but it’s not very nice. There is always a different curry/stir fry/noodle/rice dish, amazing fresh fruit, pastries, fresh bread, cereals, cheese's, salad & some cheap ham & chicken sausages (like tinned hotdog sausages). Also a pancake/waffle station. Several fruit juices, water , tea & coffee. All in all a tasty selection, but not top class other than the coffee - nice strong coffee!! Ken was most welcoming at front of house & ensured all the guests needs were met. Pool area OK, small - & Shane it is not near the beach, but clean, nice & refreshing (colder than the sea). We really only used the pool area once. The resort has beautiful gardens & is extremely well kept & spotlessly clean everywhere. If you are expecting a 4 star hotel, then you won’t be dissatisfied - we would return. Thank you Briza for a really lovely 14 night stay!
