Blue Bay Platinum Hotel

2nd visit this year, 6 weeks in total. As with the 1st review we had a fantastic stay but this time spoiled slightly by a few shortfalls. Please read review as a whole as this is to warn of niggles and hopefully point out to hotel so they can review. We are waiting for me to get all clear to travel to be able to book here again soon and hopefully for full 28 days. Arrived around 3.00 am and was disappointed to find we had been given a low floor room directly over the main entertainment area despite asking for a quiet room for medical reasons. Went to reception following morning and was agreed we could move 2 days later when a room would be available due to hotel being full. As agreed we were able to move and even given keys to check room first. Room was overlooking front but was great for us. Half way through the holiday there was an arrival of over100 Bulgarian teenagers of both sexes. We feared the worst, even more when evening meal descended into total chaos when they arrived in the restaurant at same time. Needed better organisation, surprised nobody was hurt in the melay. Our fears were allayed after the 1st day and they were on the whole well behaved for the few days they were in the hotel. Staff were fantastic despite being over worked, most were working 7day weeks as a shortage of staff. Special mentions go to Meldon in the restaurant and Özlem on the pool bar who are now part of our extended family. They are lovely people who are a credit to the hotel and should go far in life. Also big thanks to Zeki, cheeky chappy 'Bob', Mustafa and Burak on the pool bar, Ugur in restaurant and our housekeeper Shongu. All represented themselves and the hotel fantastically and would employ them all if I was in the business. Pool entertainment in the afternoon could be overloud, particularly on a Thursday. Other than that they put in a big effort. Slightly concerning was how we could feel the hotel going into end of season rundown as we got closer to end of October, staff numbers and regularly running out of products like Baileys, ran out with 3 weeks to go and would not be re ordered. Food was great and varied and did not feel repeated despite spending 6 weeks there in total. Ice-cream bar is a god send lol. We have visited 4 times mow in total and would 100% recommend and as I say hoping to book again for another 28 days.

Hotel was good, location was great McDonald’s and a supermarket opposite. Good choice of pools Food was excellent better than some of the other “better” hotels I’ve stayed at in Marmaris. WiFi in rooms works well. Aircon had some faults and had to ask the hotel to look at it a few times. All in all a great hotel

The adult only pool area section was a real bonus to have a much quieter relaxing time. In addition the staff were excellent Alex and Turkesh so attentive to make sure we had what we needed during our stay around the pool and or at the restaurant

Good firm king size mattress but pillows were overstuffed & hard. Only 1 tiny circular drawer in the single bedside table & only 1 bedside light. Square arch of LED lights round bed head were not bright enough to read by. A small room with no drawers for clothes storage can never be graded 5*. Dining room was good & all-you-can-carry food was excellent. Self-serve salads were truly magnificent, as were the free ice creams. We didn’t indulge in the unlimited free alcohol available. The biggest bugbear was the all-encompassing music. Reveille (yes a bugle call) at 10.00 & then continuous over-loud music until 23.00. We played a game of ‘hunt the loudspeaker’ to try to find the quietest location. If you want a quiet peaceful holiday then look elsewhere, Blue Bay Platinum is not for you. We complained to TUI UK & we’re told that the hotel is described as ‘lively’. This is obviously TUIspeak for deafening.

The restaurant staff were great .. the entertainment staff didn’t approach us until day 10 of our two week stay .. the noise from the Sun Bay hotel next door was horrendous and we might as well as had the windows open .. food was repetitive and lukewarm warm although we didn’t starve .. although we were all ill during the holiday … the pools were overcrowded and everyone was rammed in like sardines .. Alex at the adults pool was amazing .. the Tui rep was very knowledgeable .. we wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend
