Lovely - Warts and All

We stayed as a family of 4. Firstly, the kids entertainment is incredible! Erica and her staff are amazing! Could not recommend a better hotel for kids activities! The hotel is undergoing a huge refurb next year, and you can see that it certainly needs it; during a day of rain, the roof leaked on reception and caused an evening of entertainment to be cancelled. Not a huge issue as the staff were very apologetic and it was clearly beyond their control, but the hotel does need a bit of TLC to bring it up to standard. That said, there is something special with the hotel and you do kinda love it 'warts 'n all'. My only major criticism is the cooks on the omelette station are incredibly rude and very short-tempered. I would swap them to cook something 'out back' that doesn't involve interaction with the guests and bring staff who are actually capable of a smile and to make the omelette - these cooks can ruin what is otherwise a lovely and enjoyable breakfast!

BED BUGS - Avoid!

We have been going to Bahia Principe hotels for the past 7 years and every time have a great time. Sadly this last visit was ruined by bed bugs from the very first night. On the first night my entire hand doubled in size and I had to go to a doctor for medication as my body was full of poison from the bites. I was in huge pain. On the 3rd night my lip tripped in size and my face got deformed. I was crying and going to reception with a bucket of ice showing them the damage and begging them to move us to another room. The hotel couldn’t find bed bugs and didn’t move us until I managed to record a video of a bed bug crawling on my pillow. We didn’t get moved to a new room until our 5th night. I didn’t sleep for 5 nights and then developed insomnia out of fear and constant scratching. The process of moving was stressful- half day wasted on packing and unpacking with little children. We travelled with hand luggage only - there was no luggage in the hold where the bed bugs might have come from yet the hotel accused us of bringing the bed bugs ourselves. I argue - how are they sure there was no bed bugs if they could not see them When looking yet we took a video of bed bugs hours after they ‘investigated’. The hotel told us no bed bugs were ever found in the room before yet I already met a family on Facebook who stayed in the same room in February and another one in Nov 24 and also had bed bugs! We are now going to file a lawsuit for compensation. Unacceptable not to be compensated after being loyal to Bahia for 7 years.

Just returned from a trip for a week with my family. Good things: 1.) Great heated pool which is the centerpiece of the place. 2.) Rooms were clean and tidy. 3.) Staff were great, friendly and plenty of them. 4.) The entertainment staff do their best to keep you entertained and do a good job. 5.) Never waited for a seat for breakfast, dinner or tea. 6.) Never had to wait for a drink longer than a couple of minutes. 7.) The staff who run the snack bar deserve a medal. Not so good. 1.) Nowhere near a beach. Not the end of the world but worth knowing. 2.) The food is nowhere near as bad as the worst reviews say it is but depending how long that fish has been out on obviously affects how warm it is. I had some which had just been put out which were great, I had some which had clearly been out for a while which obviously wasn't. Considering how many people they're feeding and how many different things are on offer I feel the negative reviews are being a bit unfair but if you're fussy and inclined to moan then there is some validity to what they say. 3.) Hotel is a bit isolated. Again this is personal preference. I like to get out and look around. This place is for families and people who want to sit round the pool and go nowhere else. There's a bus stop at the top of the hill but my word they are awful and unreliable. Not the hotel's fault. Overall, if you're a young family and you get a good price I'd say give it a go. What I'll also say is that for an all inclusive we didn't have a load of people just getting smashed and abusing the alcohol so very family friendly.

Booked this just under 2 weeks before we travelled. Check in at at Reception was great, Juan Carlos was very helpful, providing all information needed during our stay. Quickly shown to our room which was close to main hotel/restaurant/bar which was very clean but needs updating.. Disappointed to see that a 4*+ hotel only supplied a bottle of water, no soft drinks let alone tea/coffee. Majority of staff were very helpful and polite but one or two were quite rude and abrupt when I politely asked a question !! Also heard same comments from other guests .... We aren't fussy eaters, in fact quite the opposite but were quite disappointed with the food available... Mostly 'warm' at best and a lot of items very salty.I We didn't try the themed restaurants but heard varying feedback from other guests. Gardens are kept very clean and tidy with smiling staff acknowledging visitors..... So, on the whole not the best hotel we have visited but I believe there's a refurb at the ending the year ?

Fantastic family holiday to BPSCA - highly recommend

It has been approx. 2-years since we were last here. Yes the hotel needs an update (which hotel doesn't), however, the staff / grounds / animation team / food were all fantastic. For anyone going (or thinking about it) please look at the original Facebook page for this hotel - Bahia principe Costa Adeje, friends (Sunlight). The page is kept up-to-date by returning guests and any questions are answered quickly and truthfully. Overall our stay (as 4 x GF) could not be faulted. We were always looked after at breakfast (Portofino) and lunch (Casa Bonita) where we were offered GF breads and puddings - and if there were items we couldn't have the chefs were always willing to offer a GF alternative. We went to the Asian - GF selection is limited, however, we were offered other alternatives. We had two trips to the Italian Al A Carte (Portofino) - and both times we had fantastic meals. The GF pizza and GF pastas went down a treat. The Grill Al A Carte (Casa Bonita) was good. The lack of GF starters was disappointing (again). The main courses were good; 2 x steaks were good. The chicken and bacon skewers were tasty, as was the salmon. The buffet nights were fantastic - all the chefs would advise us what we could and could not eat. There is an opportunity to order GF foods for the next day (see photo) - we ordered pancakes and sometimes puddings, however, we always found an option, meals are for Mirador (all meals) or Portofino (breakfast only). Night time entertainment:- Terrace music was good, our daughter was even invited to play guitar with Bianca and Brian one night and Dax Kohler another night (which we are very grateful to them all for this experience for her). We went to the Queen tribute on Monday night in the square, this was superb - being a Queen fan, they were good and kept the audience entertained. Thursday was Got Soul, due to weather they were indoors, but kept everyone going. Animation team Sara, Lucia and Ernesto (main pool team) were fantastic and kept everyone entertained in the pool and in the square. We did the quiz a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed this. The onsite Indian was once again fantastic - Kamrul and his team made us feel very welcome and catered for our needs. Only disappointing thing is the hotel will be closing early 2026 for a full revamp
