Atlantis

We’ve stayed a few times and unfortunately this visit will be our last. It’s gone from 4 star rating to three now I notice and justifiably so. The biggest advantage is the room size if you are a family of more than 2 - plenty space (2 adults , 1 teen and 1 child here). The rooms are kept pretty clean. There’s one block of rooms which I think originated from an older version of the hotel - we were unfortunate enough to be given a room there last year. It’s grim - dark, dingy corridors. Air conditioning was temperamental in those rooms although have never had an issue in the newer blocks with this previously. Food was poor this time - we ate out once a day to ensure we had a nice meal. The quantity is there but not the quality. Some very odd options at breakfast. We heard a lady demanding doctors at reception blaming the food for causing their family members to be ill and then talking to other guests who were also ill. All subjective of course. We didn’t experience any illness ourselves. The cocktails were weak and very sweet- if you were lucky they were served in a very scratched, old plastic beaker. Some days we were served from the bar into paper cups. Pool bar was open throughout the day and night, can’t remember opening times of indoor main bar but was def open on an evening. We went the May half term - no entertainment until the weekend we were leaving so just into beginning of June.

This was my second A.I. holiday in the Atlantis Hotel. I enjoyed my first holiday in 2023 and this year there was a huge improvement in food quality thanks to Nikos, the new Greek Head Chef. He is an excellent chef and made the holiday for me. He is very much hands-on and can be seen most evenings in the restaurant helping out his staff, and, like most Greek people, he is a friendly, helpful person who is always willing to talk to guests. The hotel is large with extensive, well-kept gardens and located in an idyllic location approx. 30 minutes walk from Kos town. It has a private beach with panoramic views of the islands and Turkey. Everywhere throughout the hotel there is wheelchair access. The staff are nice and helpful. The rooms are fine and the bathrooms have baths and showers. Bring a multi-socket extension lead if you have many electrical appliances as there are only 2 sockets in the bedroom. In 2023 I had a nice quiet room. This year I was on the third floor in the main building and found it somewhat noisy with people dragging furniture around and slamming doors(inconsiderate guests), so whenever I return I will ask for the room I had on my first visit. Taking everything into account, Atlantis is a well-run hotel with pleasant staff and great food in a lovely location. Highly recommended.

Let's start with the good: check-in smooth & staff very welcoming. Our room was not as expected but would be changed the following day. 1st night, On the 4th floor and the room was spotless. No complaints. Our first experience of the main bar was not good, with a verbal exchange, but that was later rectified with no ill feelings. The food was quite varied for AI, with something for everyone except the most fussy. The fresh bread, salad and fish were lovely, and it was good to be served decent butter. The room(s) we had were clean and we had no problem with the presentation of the rooms. I'd rate the hotel a decent 3*. The staff throughout were pleasant and polite, with special mention to Faik & Klement. All the negatives are mentioned: beach costs, poor drink selection in tiny glasses, and lack of sunbeds at the pool. We had a good overall experience, but it may be different in the height of season.

We went in October for a week and we totally loved this hotel the staff were lovely everything about the hotel is excellent the food was amazing the choices were great would go back again and I would recommend it to family and friends but i would go off peek it was packed when we went the end of October

We spent our holiday here at the beginning of October and as usual I’ll start with the bad points first. As per normal to pretty much all hotels now the food wasn’t great. It was quite repetitive and very rarely hotter than luke warm. If you got children or picky eaters you’re going to struggle. This is a big complex that has 510 rooms with just two pools and a small toddlers pool which was ok when we were there in October but would probably be full in the hotter months. Sunbeds, there’s just not enough, unless you go down before 9am ( and no we didn’t just put our towels down and leave ) like we had to you can forget about having one. There is a beautiful beach which brings me onto my other bad point, even though you are all inclusive you still need to pay for the beach sunbeds at €4 each which at €20 a day for us worked out expensive. There is a beach bar but you are required to buy your drinks even if you’re all inclusive. The part that annoyed me about this is that they were charging €3.50 for a 330ml can of Methos yet in the supermarket down the road you can buy a 500ml can for €1.20, just ripping people off. There's a few shops and restaurants near the complex but not a great deal else if you’re looking for something a bit more lively. We caught a taxi into Kos town but had the same problem as others, couldn’t get one back, so be aware of this if you struggle walking 40 minutes in the hot sun. The staff can be a bit hit and miss. The guy cooking the Gyros, the guy setting the tables at the Tavern on the blue and the guys collecting the glasses were brilliant along with the friendly cleaning and security staff, some of them just seemed like they really didn’t want to be there. Now I’m not saying this is a bad point as such but more a strange one. You cannot get any straight alcoholic drink such as Vodka and Coke before 5pm, its either cocktails, beer or soft drinks in cups that could be a bit bigger. Also after 11pm you are required to pay. Ok so the good points. I found the hotel pretty clean. There were staff continuously collecting peoples plastic glasses so they didn’t blow around and the cleaning staff seemed to do a decent job of cleaning our rooms. The beach as I said was lovely. Swimming with the fish and just lying on the sunbeds watching the boats was amazing. Would I stay again? Well wouldn’t call it a 4* hotel by any means but it depends on the cost I guess. Definitely wouldn’t go all inclusive. Would rather pay a bit extra to eat out. Oh and a final point I forgot about is don't forget you have to pay holiday tax when you get there. It was €10 per night per room and we had two rooms.
