We have been to the Maldives quite a few times now, and this is the first resort we have been visiting for a second time. Why is that? Three reasons: 1) the house reef 2) the water villa 3) the food. Let me elaborate on each topic, starting with the house reef: it is teeming with marine life, housing a huge variety of fish - colorful parrotfish, triggerfish, surgeonfish, schools of bannerfish, oriental sweetlip; but you can also easily spot turtles, eagle rays, stingrays and reef sharks, the beautiful giant clam, and beautiful corals. You never get bored and discover something new every day. And we have been there for ten days! On top, the reef is easy to reach. Our second reason to return is the water villa, specifically the spacious terrace which has been renovated recently. It provides plenty of shade which is important to us as the sun becomes very strong during the day. And one cannot spend the noon better than sitting on this swing on the porch, watching the lazy waves and spoting some dolphins in the distance. We also loved the new area where you can watch the sunset. Room service is immaculate, and greatly timed so we never had to wait around while it was being cleaned. Thank you, Hameez! Third reason to return is the food. We do not like buffets, and you can avoid them totally by visiting one of the three a la carte restaurants every night.Spice was our go-to restaurant, as it offers a great variety of Asian food: Thai and Indian curries, some Maldivian dishes and also stir-fried food from the Wok. We would also like to mention the great host of Fire, the Japanese restaurant. He is very diligent, friendly, and attentive. Sorry that we forgot his name! Some other things we really liked are: - Even though the resort was well booked (almost 100%) it did not feel that way. - The beaches are well kept and beautiful; you do not see large bags/walls/barriers to keep the sand in - something that happens on other islands. - The island is big enough that you need about 30 minutes to walk around it on the beach, yet it still gives you a remote feeling. - The bikes help you to get around the island quickly. - The bathroom is so airy and filled with light and has this great view onto the sea. - If you want to go diving, there is a great team on site. We did our Nitrox certification with Ebram, he did a very good job, being very understanding, patient, and helpful. - Generally, the staff on site is always friendly, helpful and attentive. We would like to thank Jambe for being our villa host for the second time. doing a great job in catering to our needs within short time, always friendly and sharing stories about marine life, the weather, and anything else we needed to know. Things to improve are little: - Lighting in the dressing area is quite poor, a stronger LED or some additional ones might help here. - We would not need music in the breakfast area in the morning. The sound of the waves and the palm leaves are beautiful, there is no need for additional background music in our opinion.
