Everything about this stay was wonderful. They helped us by being accommodating with everything we inquired about. They offered to help us in ways we hadn't thought of. All with enthusiasm and kindness. A beautiful property, very comfortable and a wonderful breakfast.

A great location and lovely stay

We had a wonderful stay at the Allegory. The location is perfect for exploring the Old Town being both central and quiet. The staff were great, in particular Katerina who prepared breakfast everyday and always had a happy friendly smile. Breakfast was simple and a bit repetitive after a few days but perfectly good. The rooms were good, although not luxury. The main thing I think would improve the hotel would be tidying up the veranda areas. Many of the plants in pots had died and others were sitting in a bag waiting to be planted for many days. And a table umbrella was just left abandoned on the veranda generally making the area look a mess. It could be a lovely space but falls a little short. Overall a lovely stay and we would recommend

An absolutely wonderful hotel.

In my humble opinion, the Allegory should not be viewed simply as a hotel. Why? Because if you are lucky enough to stay here, you become part of their family. Konstantina and her entire team are so very friendly and efficient, it really is hard to see them as “just a hotel”. This is a double compliment as (again, in my opinion) the people of Rhodes are the friendliest in all of Greece. From stepping out of arrivals to see the taxi driver bearing our names, to alighting from our taxi seven days later - it was perfection. Saying that it was like being with family does not mean Allegory isn’t a first rate hotel. Our room (Callisto) was very well equipped as well as extremely comfortable (especially the efficient air-conditioning, much needed in 30 degree plus heat). The bed was perfect and because of the Allegory’s quiet location, a good night's sleep was guaranteed. The mild criticisms from some reviewers regarding breakfast were incorrect (if our experience was typical). I’m not a big breakfast person but the choices were more than enough. In fact, Konstantina seemed a little upset that I wasn’t taking advantage of the eggs, omelettes, granola and other items available if you just asked. One day she brought out some of her home made cakes and they were absolutely delicious. There was only one aspect that could be a problem, Callisto can only be reached by a flight of stairs. This presented no problems whatsoever, to a couple of seventy year olds but we don’t have any mobility issues. I cannot stress how good the location of the hotel is. You are a five minute stroll to the busy Sokratous Street with its many shops, bars and restaurants. Speaking of which, all of Konstantina’s restaurant recommendations proved to be excellent. Of course, our tastes and budgets may differ from yours. Also, next door is the best ice cream parlour in the city - absolutely delicious. We spoke to a couple during the week who had also booked a hotel in Rhodes old town centre and they were quite envious of our quiet nights. Their hotel had quite a bit of late-night noise from the nearby bar. In conclusion, the next time we visit Rhodes (and we will) we will stay nowhere else. A true five star experience.

Tripadvisor Overview

The Allegory Boutique hotel is a small boutique hotel in the island of Rhodes, located in the Medieval Old Town and ideally situated close to St Athanasios Gate. It exemplifies the architecture of the area and is a member of "Yades Greek Historic Hotels" and "Historic Hotels of Europe". In a cluster of historic townhouses in the medieval heart of Rhodes, the Allegory has been created in a beautiful balance between heritage and modern design. Six suites with a brilliantly conceived ergonomic space, preserve the impressive wooden beams of the original architecture. Earthy colors, refined decoration, impressive artwork and robust stonewalls are the elements of the suites. Inviting and noble, with exclusive service attributes, the Allegory Boutique Hotel promises a different way to explore the medieval city of Rhodes, an Architectural Heritage site, and the beauties of the island. Allegory is no ordinary luxury hotel. Conceived by its owners as a serene refuge, set in the ancient walls of the medieval city, the hotel offers guests a unique insight into Rhodian culture, history and art. The building was the residence of Anastasiadis family from Karpathos that brought up musicians, woodcraft furniture and musical instrument manufacturers. It exemplifies the architecture of the area. It offers a broad quality range of five-star services. The design, the architectural interventions and personal attributes win the admiration of the demanding guest who chooses to become a part of its history. Just minutes by foot from the Old Town’s iconic sites, Allegory offers accommodation and an experience like no other. Our guests are invited to experience the true meaning of the Greek word philoxenia – literally translated as the act of being a “friend to a stranger” – the timeless act of hospitality and care shown to visitors. Every guest will be treated as family and we will be glad to prepare homemade breakfast according to your specific needs. We are happy to serve delicious vegetarian and vegan breakfast options. Walk through Rhode’s medieval town cobblestone streets, in the neighborhood of the Knights, which lead you to this brand new, historic yet hip, little diamond to discover: The Allegory Boutique Hotel Rhodes. What a hideaway!
