In my humble opinion, the Allegory should not be viewed simply as a hotel. Why? Because if you are lucky enough to stay here, you become part of their family. Konstantina and her entire team are so very friendly and efficient, it really is hard to see them as “just a hotel”. This is a double compliment as (again, in my opinion) the people of Rhodes are the friendliest in all of Greece. From stepping out of arrivals to see the taxi driver bearing our names, to alighting from our taxi seven days later - it was perfection. Saying that it was like being with family does not mean Allegory isn’t a first rate hotel. Our room (Callisto) was very well equipped as well as extremely comfortable (especially the efficient air-conditioning, much needed in 30 degree plus heat). The bed was perfect and because of the Allegory’s quiet location, a good night's sleep was guaranteed. The mild criticisms from some reviewers regarding breakfast were incorrect (if our experience was typical). I’m not a big breakfast person but the choices were more than enough. In fact, Konstantina seemed a little upset that I wasn’t taking advantage of the eggs, omelettes, granola and other items available if you just asked. One day she brought out some of her home made cakes and they were absolutely delicious. There was only one aspect that could be a problem, Callisto can only be reached by a flight of stairs. This presented no problems whatsoever, to a couple of seventy year olds but we don’t have any mobility issues. I cannot stress how good the location of the hotel is. You are a five minute stroll to the busy Sokratous Street with its many shops, bars and restaurants. Speaking of which, all of Konstantina’s restaurant recommendations proved to be excellent. Of course, our tastes and budgets may differ from yours. Also, next door is the best ice cream parlour in the city - absolutely delicious. We spoke to a couple during the week who had also booked a hotel in Rhodes old town centre and they were quite envious of our quiet nights. Their hotel had quite a bit of late-night noise from the nearby bar. In conclusion, the next time we visit Rhodes (and we will) we will stay nowhere else. A true five star experience.
