I chose Absolute Sanctuary as I was suffering with stress and wanted to take some time out away from everything to find calm and feel better. I chose the 10 day de-stress and burnout programme. I would recommend this place and this programme to anyone who is also feeling quite run down. Every day I started my day with meditation and yoga run by a wonderful yoga teacher Janna. She was a very good teacher and I learned a lot from her classes. I had three meals a day from a menu of very appealing healthy and Thai style meals. The food was tasty and while non of it was unhealthy, you could choose how healthy you wanted to be for example you might choose a soup and salad or if you wanted something more comforting there are filling Thai curries and cakes and puddings with a healthy twist. All of the staff at the Love Kitchen are friendly, efficient and polite and made mealtimes feel pleasant and special. I also had a spa treatment every day. All of the treatments are excellent, my favourite one was a massage called “Deep Calm” which does exactly that. Pookie stood out for me as an exceptional therapist with an extra special attention to detail and care that makes a difference. Within my programme was included ‘stress management sessions’ with a seasoned therapist Stephanie. I was not sure what to expect from these but they exceeded all of my expectations and added something really constructive to the retreat. The rest of the time was spent by the pool, in the gym, in Pilates or other group activities and sessions. Comming alone was brilliant because it meant I met so many other people who had come alone and it felt natural that many of us became friends to share the experience with. I give this retreat 4/5 stars because while it offers great value for money, a good programme in a nurturing environment there are some areas I felt could be improved. - there was some building work while I was here that disrupted the classes and was at times noisy. I think that it would be better to give warning if that when booking as it was planned in advance. It meant hot yoga was out of action and there was a reduced class timetable. - the gym facilities are also used by locals as a gym. While doing group reformer Pilates one visitor took a phone call and proceeded to take the call during the session which I found disruptive ans distracting as it was difficult to concentrate on the instructors words. - my first room I was given was very dark and the safe did not work. For a few days I had to ask reception to come to my room with me to open the safe every time I wanted something which was time consuming and inconvenient. In the end I asked to change rooms. They said they would fix the safe but eventually I asked if I could just move rooms. So it was resolved in the end.
